Ze Big Fat Indian Wedding!

I love it when someone goes the whole hog and gets married with all the jhing-bang one associates with an Indian shaadi drama. And is that such a bad thing? I've had friends and even random people sneering and looking down upon my love for big, fat and crazy Indian marriages.

So what now suddenly it's cool to have minimalistic rituals and not bother about little fun things like hiding shoes? Believe me, it might be fun for the people marrying since obviously they're jaws are numb 'issmailing' for the photowalah but not for the people attending the wedding, jyeah?

I have a lot of relatives in Delhi, and trust me, I love getting there when someone is getting married. The happy chaos, the decorating business, getting all dressed up, aunties cracking perverted jokes. Well it's all FUN in case you haven't realised yet!

So pliss to not be telling me that shaadis are stupid/ a waste of time/ waste of money. Let us keep shaadi simple/ cut out the rituals, etc. etc. Especially when it comes to my darling cousin Akshay's wedding. You shut Mouf!

December is going to be epic! ^_^

Couldn't agree to you more. Yes, in this age there are people who find this stupid but nothing matches the fun and frolic of a big fat Indian wedding.

How can Indian weddings be stupid? No way. They are completely entertaining, funny, and food-y.

Though, for some people, it can be a catastrophic event, at times. :P

@ disgruntled- hah i managed to read the post and several others. good job! :D

@arjit- i know what you mean! but think of the laughs you get on account of the catastrophes

Of course you love 'week long marriages which involve loads of shiny objects and gossiping'-you are a woman, you are wired up like that. For guys to truly enjoy weddings you will have to introduce a casino and pool table next to the dessert stall!

*ring* sexist alert! that is one part of the wedding that i hate. what i like about the weddings is the fun rituals, songs, dance and basically everyone having fun! no gossip about jewelery and clothes for me thank you.

Some beers should be served at the wedding too plz !!

Okay I belong to the 'simple, no ritual, court main shaadi karenge' crowd * runs for cover *

Well its because we are spending astronomical sums on a marriage. Agreed they happen once in a life time, but if we are ambani rich then fine, if not why not spend that money on going on a long long long trip throughout India in a car, sightseeing, seeing parts of the country we would never get time to go out..eat..enjoy with the love of your life ?

Would love to know what you think about this :)

Cheers
